Uttering threats charge added after Englehart altercation

SHARPE TOWNSHIP – On Sept. 25, 2020 shortly after 4 p.m. members of the Temiskaming Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a call of threats, in the Township of Sharpe.  

Further investigation revealed that an individual who was breaching conditions from a prior release, allegedly made threats to other persons.   

On Sept. 26, 2020 at approximately 1 p.m., a 73-year-old resident of Sharpe Township, was arrested and charged with:   

  • Failure to comply with Undertaking, contrary to section 145(4)(a), of the Criminal Code (CC),
  • Uttering threats - cause death or bodily harm - spousal, contrary to section 264.1(1)(a) of the CC, and 
  • Uttering threats - cause death or bodily harm, contrary to section 264.1(1)(a) of the CC.  

The accused was held for a bail hearing and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice at a later date in the City of Temiskaming Shores. 

The OPP will not be releasing the name of the accused in order to protect the identity of the victim.
