Two people arrested on warrants

The Timmins Police Service arrested two local residents over the weekend on the strength of separate Arrest Warrants issued by the Provincial Court in Timmins.

While on patrol of the downtown area of Schumacher during the afternoon hours of Friday, Jan. 31, a Timmins Police Service officer recognized a male person as being a wanted person.

The Timmins Police Service officer interviewed the person while the validity of the Arrest Warrant was being confirmed by Timmins Police dispatch personnel.

Once the warrant was confirmed, Guy Lauzon, 55, of Timmins, was taken into police custody without incident.

He remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for this morning at Provincial Court in Timmins where he will answer to the original charges laid against him.

In a separate incident, while attending to an 'unwanted person' call for service at an area shelter during the evening hours of Friday, Jan. 31, a Timmins Police Service officer recognized the subject of the complaint, a female person, as being a wanted person.

The Timmins Police Service officer interviewed the person while the validity of the Arrest Warrant was being confirmed by Timmins Police dispatch personnel.

Once the warrant was confirmed, Nikeya Faries, 22, of Timmins, was taken into police custody without incident.

She remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for this morning at Provincial Court in Timmins where she will answer to the original charges laid against her.
