Two drivers charged with impaired in Kapuskasing

KAPUSAKSING - On July 3, 2020 and on July 4, 2020, the James Bay Detachments of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to two occurrences involving impaired drivers in the Town of Kapuskasing.

On July 3, 2020 at approximately 11:45 p.m., officers responded to a traffic complaint involving an impaired driver.

The driver was located on Gurney Road in the Town of Kapuskasing and police determined that the driver was impaired by alcohol.

Richard Routhier, 28 years old of Kapuskasing, Ont., has been charged with operation while impaired - blood concentration (80 plus) contrary to section 320.14(1)(b) Criminal Code (CC).

On July 4, 2020, officers responded to an occurrence involving a suspicious person in a motor vehicle.

At approximately 2:11 a.m., police located the motor vehicle on Hall Avenue in the Town of Kapuskasing and determined that the driver was impaired by alcohol.

Alain Bolduc, 39 years old of Hearst, Ont., has been charged with operation while impaired - blood concentration (80 plus) contrary to section 320.14(1)(b) Criminal Code (CC).

Both accused persons are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Kapuskasing on Aug. 10, 2020, to answer to the charge.

Both drivers were served with a 90 day administrative driver's licence suspension (ADLS) and the motor vehicles were impounded for seven days.

Police are asking the public to call the authorities if they see someone driving after having consumed intoxicating substances.
