Two arrested on warrants in separate incidents

In one instance, police found a suspicious person lurking in a parking lot and determined it was a 'wanted person'

The Timmins Police Service arrested two local residents on the strength of respective arrest warrants over the weekend.

During the evening hours of Saturday, Oct. 1, a man attended at the Timmins Police station to turn himself in.

Once the validity of arrest warrant was confirmed, the subject was taken into custody by the Timmins Police Service.

As a result, Peter Burtch, 61, of Timmins was released from police custody at a bail hearing but is compelled to attend at the Ontario Court of Justice in Timmins on Nov. 1 to address the charges currently laid against him.

In a separate incident that occurred during the afternoon hours of Sunday, Oct. 2, while completing crime abatement patrols, a Timmins Police officer located a suspicious person lurking in a First Avenue parking lot.

It was determined that the subject was a “wanted person” named in a current arrest warrant held by the Timmins Police.

Once the validity of the warrant was confirmed, the subject was arrested by the Timmins Police Service.

As a result, Samantha Solomon, 38, of Timmins was arrested on the strength of the warrant.

She remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for today at the Ontario Court of Justice in Timmins to answer to the charge laid against her.
