On Jan. 30, 2021 at 12:07 p.m., members of the Iroquois Falls Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on Highway 11 in Newmarket Township, north of Iroquois Falls.
As a result of the traffic stop, the passenger, Dylan Morin-Poulin, 28 years of age, of Saint-Gedeon, Que. was arrested and charged with the following:
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance - methamphetamine contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA),
- Permit motor vehicle to be operated without insurance contrary to section 2(1)(b) of the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act (CAIA),
- Fail to apply for permit on becoming owner contrary to section 11(2) of the Highway Traffic Act (HTA) and
- Use plate not authorized for vehicle contrary to section 12(1)(d) of the HTA.
The accused was released on an Undertaking and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on March 25, 2021 in Timmins.
The driver, 20 years of age, of Saint-George, Que. was issued a Provincial Offence Notice (PON) for Drive motor vehicle with cannabis readily available, contrary to section 12(1) of the Cannabis Control Act 2017 (CCA2017).
