Traffic stop leads to impaired charges in Iroquois Falls

IROQUOIS FALLS — On July 6, 2022, members of the Iroquois Falls Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on Highway 67 in Iroquois Falls.

As a result of the investigation, Jacob Kulgawchuk, 58 years of age of Iroquois Falls was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs contrary to section 320.14(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC)
  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) contrary to section 320.14(1)(b) of the CC
  • Drive motor vehicle - perform stunt - excessive speed contrary to section 172(1) of the Highway Traffic Act (HTA)

The driver was served a 90-day administrative driver's license suspension (ADLS) and a vehicle impoundment.

The accused was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Timmins on Aug. 22, 2022.
