Traffic complaint leads to impaired charges in Moosonee

On March 3, 2022, members of the James Bay Detachments of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a traffic complaint of a possible impaired driver near Hutchison Road, in the Town of Moosonee.  

Police conducted a traffic stop and spoke to the driver of the motor vehicle. Further investigation revealed that the driver was found to have consumed alcoholic beverages.

As a result, the driver was arrested, driver's licence suspended and vehicle impounded.

 Clarence Williams, 57-years-old of Moosonee, was arrested and charged with:

  • Operation while impaired - Alcohol and Drugs, contrary to section 320.14(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC)
  • Operation while impaired - Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) (80 plus), contrary to section 320.14(1)(b) of the CC

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on April 5, 2022 in Moosonee.
