Traffic complaint leads to impaired charge for Kirkland Lake driver

KIRKLAND LAKE - On Feb. 17, 2020 at approximately 3:45 p.m., members of the Kirkland Lake Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a traffic complaint on Highway 11 in Eby Township, Ont.

Police located the vehicle and a traffic stop was conducted. Further investigation revealed the driver was under the influence of alcohol.

As a result, Anne Pegg, 67 years old of Kirkland Lake, Ont., has been charged with the following:
    •    Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus), contrary to section 320.14(1)(b) of the Criminal Code

The driver was issued a 90-day administrative driver's licence suspension (ADLS) and the motor vehicle was impounded for seven days.

The accused was released on an Undertaking and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on March 26, 2020, in Kirkland Lake.

Remember, any amount of alcohol or drugs can impair one's ability to drive.
