Timmins woman faces drug charges following traffic stop in Moosonee

COCHRANE - On Jan. 29, 2022, members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on a suspected wanted person on Wabun Road in Moosonee.

The accused was subsequently arrested and further investigation revealed that they were in possession of suspected fentanyl, suspected methamphetamine, suspected cocaine, Canadian currency, a knife and a scale.  

As a result of the investigation Marilyn Michaud, 40 years old from Timmins, was arrested and charged with:
    •    failure to comply with release order - other than to attend court (three counts) contrary to section 145(5)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC)
    •    possession of weapon for dangerous purpose, contrary to section 88 of the CC
    •    carrying concealed weapon, contrary to section 90 of the CC
    •    possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 - in Canada, contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the CC
    •    possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - cocaine, contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA)
    •    possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - methamphetamine, contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA
    •    possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - opioid (other than heroin) (two counts), contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA

The accused person was held for Bail Court and will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice at a later date.
