Timmins men accused of robbing a pedestrian

Police say a quantity of a controlled substance was found on each suspect when they were arrested

The Timmins Police Service has charged two local men with a number of Criminal Code offences stemming from an assaultive altercation that occurred during the evening hours of Monday, Aug. 3 at the corner of Fifth Avenue and Cedar Street North.

The Timmins Police Service responded to a complaint regarding two male suspects who had physically accosted a 36-year-old male pedestrian. The suspects persisted in their assault upon the pedestrian until he turned over what money he had on his person in keeping with their demands.

The pedestrian was treated for his injuries and released from hospital.

Both suspects were eventually identified, located and arrested by the Timmins Police officer without further incident.

A quantity of a controlled substance was found on each suspect when arrested.

Based on the outcome of the investigation, Thomas Tomagatick, 28, and Bryan Tomagatick, 27, both of Timmins, have been charged respectively with:

  • Robbery contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Possession of a controlled substance contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substances Act

The accused persons remain in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for this morning at Provincial Court in Timmins to answer to the charges laid against them.
