The Timmins Police Service has charged a local man person with a series of mischief and assault related offences stemming from incidents that occurred yesterday (July 1) afternoon in Timmins.
A matter was reported to the Timmins Police Service where a male party had relieved himself in an area adjacent to the employee’s outdoor rest area at an Algonquin Boulevard business.
The man was positively identified by means of a review of video surveillance.
Prior to being located by police, [it is alleged] the man became involved in a separate incident where he began to engage in further erratic behaviour in a back alley off of Cedar Street South.
At one point the man produced a knife and began to approach another man in a menacing fashion.
Responding Timmins Police Service officers took the suspect into custody and located the knife on his person along with a quantity of controlled substances.
Based on the outcome of the investigations into each incident, Faron Blais, 22 of Timmins, has been charged with:
• Mischief contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
• Assault with a weapon contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
• Carry a concealed weapon contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
• Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
• Assault with a weapon contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
• Possession of a controlled substance contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substance Act
• Fail to comply with probation order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
The accused remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for this morning at Provincial Court in Timmins to answer to the charges laid against him.
