Timmins man faces charges stemming from two recent robberies

The 32-year-old faces numerous charges after attempting to flee from police

The Timmins Police Service has charged a local person with robbery related offences stemming from two separate incidents that occurred independently during the early morning hours of Saturday, March 28 and again on Tuesday, March 31 at a local Algonquin Blvd gas station in Timmins. 

While completing patrols of the south end of the city early this morning, a Timmins Police Service officer observed and recognized the male robbery suspect as being the subject of an Arrest Warrant held by the Timmins Police for his involvement in the robberies. 

Upon seeing the police, the suspect fled on foot but was eventually located a short while later and arrested by the Timmins Police Service.

As a result of the investigation by the Timmins Police Service – Criminal Investigations Division into the robberies, Kevin Vieno, 32, of Timmins, Ontario, has been charged with:

  • two counts of Robbery with a Weapon contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada 
  • two counts of Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada 
  • one count of Assault with a Weapon contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada 
  • two counts of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. 
  • two counts of Carrying a Concealed Weapon contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. 
  • one count of Use a Disguise While Committing an Indictable Offence contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada 

The accused remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated at Provincial Court in Timmins to answer to the charges laid against him.
