Timmins man faces assault charges as victim remains in hospital

The Timmins Police Service has charged a local man with a number of Criminal Code offences stemming from an assaultive altercation that occurred yesterday afternoon at a Balsam Street South multi-unit apartment building in Timmins.

The Timmins Police Service responded to a complaint regarding a disturbance and located a 60-year-old man who had been assaulted with a weapon.

The victim was taken to Timmins and District Hospital by ambulance where he received medical treatment and remains there, recuperating from the injuries he sustained.

Based on the outcome of the investigation into the altercation, Kevin Nicholls-Dollimont, 27, of Timmins, has been charged with:
    •    Assault with a weapon contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
    •    Assault contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
    •    Fail to comply with Undertaking contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
    •    Two counts of fail to comply with probation order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

The accused remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for this morning at Provincial Court in Timmins to answer to the charges laid against him.
