Timmins man charged with assault

The Timmins Police Service has investigated a mid-morning disturbance that occurred on Thursday, Feb. 18 at a McLean Drive residence.

The matter was reported to the Timmins Police Service a day later where a male subject entered into a verbal dispute with a female person in the residence that escalated to the point where the suspect [is allege to have] uttered threats to the victim.

The responding Timmins Police officers were able to identify, locate, and arrest the male suspect on Feb. 19.

As a result, Ronald Laferriere, 57 of Timmins, has been charged with:
    •    assault contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
    •    two counts of utter threats contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

The accused remained in police custody for the purposes of a bail hearing where he was released on strict conditions including having to attend at Provincial Court in Timmins on March 9 to answer to the charges laid against him.
