The Timmins Police Service has charged a local man with a number of Criminal Code offences stemming from two separate fraudulent incidents at local retailers.
The Timmins Police Service received two separate complaints where a male person attended the cashier and requested a cash exchange of rolled coins in exchange for paper currency. In each case, it was later discovered that what was held out to be rolls of legitimate Canadian coin currency was in fact false.
Both incidents, one at a local grocery store and the other at the local LCBO outlet, were captured on closed circuit video. The identity of the suspect was confirmed by investigating officers of the Timmins Police Service.
The suspect was identified, located, and arrested by the Timmins Police Service yesterday.
As a result of the incident, Weislaw Woloszyn, 39, of Timmins, has been charged with two counts of:
- Fraud under $5000 contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
The accused remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for this morning at Provincial Court in Timmins in order to answer to the charges laid against him.
