Timmins man accused of causing damage at downtown shelter charged

The Timmins Police Service has charged a local man with a number of Criminal Code offences stemming from an incident which occurred at a downtown shelter facility during the evening hours of Saturday, Jan. 11.

Responding Timmins Police Service officers completed a thorough investigation into the incident where the suspect is alleged to have caused damage to furniture within shelter and then proceeded to flee on foot.

The suspect was identified, located, and arrested by the Timmins Police Service a short while later.

As a result of the incident, Ted Nkaogee, 27, of Timmins, has been charged with:
    •    mischief under $5,000 contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
    •    fail to comply - probation order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
    •    fail to comply - recognizance contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

The accused remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for this morning at Provincial Court in Timmins in order to answer to the charges laid against him.
