Teens face charges in unrelated incidents

The Timmins Police Service has arrested and charged two young persons from Timmins stemming from separate incidents where respective subjects were found to be in breach of court-imposed conditions in separate incidents.

While completing crime abatement patrols on Friday, July 29, a Timmins Police officer observed a person known to be bound by court-imposed curfew conditions at the intersection of Maple Street South and Third Avenue.

This person was interviewed and taken into police custody.

As a result, a 14-year-old male young person was taken into police custody and is charged with:
    •    Fail to comply with release order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

The accused remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for this morning at the Ontario Court of Justice in Timmins to answer to the criminal charge laid against him.

In a separate incident, the Timmins Police Service completed an investigation into an allegation on Saturday, July 30.

Based on the outcome of the investigation, a local young person was located at a Maple Street North address and found to be in breach of court-imposed conditions.

This person was taken into police custody despite [allegedly] acting in a resistive manner towards the police.

In this instance, a 15-year-old male young person was taken into police custody and is charged with:
    •    Fail to comply with release order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
    •    Resist police officer contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

The accused remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for this morning at the Ontario Court of Justice in Timmins to answer to the criminal charge laid against him.
