Teen charged after two-vehicle crash in Temiskaming Shores

One was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries

TEMISKAMING SHORES - On July 29, 2021 shortly after 10:00 p.m., members of the Temiskaming Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and the Timiskaming Emergency Medical Service (EMS), responded to a motor vehicle collision on Highway 11 at Drive in Theatre Road in the City of Temiskaming Shores.

Further investigation revealed that a commercial motor vehicle (CMV) was southbound on Highway 11 and a car was travelling westbound on Drive in Theatre Road when the collision occurred. 

The 16-year-old passenger and the 18-year-old driver in the car suffered non-life threatening injuries and were transported to hospital by ambulance. The highway was closed and was fully re-opened at approximately 12:00 a.m.

The westbound driver, an 18-year-old resident of Temiskaming Shores, has been charged with fail to yield to traffic on through highway, contrary to section 136(1)(b) of the Highway Traffic Act (HTA).

Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
