Suspicious person calls end in arrests

The separate incidents occurred on Friday and Saturday

The Timmins Police Service arrested 2 local residents on the strength of respective arrest warrants that were executed stemming from separate incidents that occurred over the weekend.

While responding to a “suspicious person” call for service in the vicinity of Cedar Street North during the afternoon hours of Friday, Oct. 15, a Timmins Police Service officer recognized the subject of the complaint as being a “wanted person” named in a current arrest warrant held by the Timmins Police.

Once the validity of the warrant was confirmed, the subject was arrested by the Timmins Police Service. As a result, William Turgeon, 30, of Timmins, was arrested on the strength of the warrant.

He remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for today at the Ontario Court of Justice in Timmins to answer to charges resulting in the arrest warrant being issued.

In a separate incident in regards to a “suspicious person” call for service at a Birch Street South residence during the afternoon hours of Saturday, Oct. 16, a Timmins Police Service officer recognized one of the subjects of the complaint as being a “wanted person” named in a current arrest warrant held by the Timmins Police.

Once the validity of the warrant was confirmed, the subject was arrested by the Timmins Police Service. As a result, Lindy Noah, 48, of Timmins was arrested on the strength of the warrant.

He remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for today at the Ontario Court of Justice in Timmins to answer to charges resulting in the arrest warrant being issued.
