Suspected methamphetamine seized after pedestrian searched in Cobalt

COBALT - On Jan. 24, 2020 shortly before 3:30 p.m., members of the Temiskaming Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped a pedestrian that was acting suspicious on Prospect Avenue in the Town of Cobalt, Ont.

Further investigation revealed that the accused was in possession of controlled substances. The officer seized a quantity of suspected methamphetamine.

As a result, Nathan Sweeney, a 37-years-old resident of Cobalt, Ont. was arrested and charged with the following:
    •    Possession of a schedule I substance - methamphetamine (two counts), contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA)

The accused was released on an Undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in the City of Temiskaming Shores on March 3, 2020.
