Suspected cocaine worth over $15,000 seized during traffic stop

Some cash was also seized during the investigation

On July 23, 2020, members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and the Timmins Police Service, conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on Riverside Drive near Government Road, in the City of Timmins.

Further investigation revealed that the two occupants were in possession of a suspected controlled substance. The OPP located and seized a quantity of cash and a substantial quantity of suspected cocaine with a street value of approximately $15,105.

Dean Bernier, a 42-year-old resident from the Town of Iroquois Falls, was arrested and charged with:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - Cocaine, contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA),
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000, contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC), and
  • Failure to comply with undertaking, contrary to section 145(4)(a) of the CC.

Bo Emans, a 39-year-old resident from the Town of Val Gagne, was arrested and charged with:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - Cocaine, contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA.

The accused were released by way of an Undertaking and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on Sept. 15, 2020 in the City of Timmins.
