Suspect in pizza parlour theft arrested at break-in scene

The Timmins Police Service has charged a local person with theft related offences stemming from an incident that occurred during the early morning hours of Aug. 14 at a local pizza parlour in in Timmins.

A Timmins Police Service officer responded to the call for service regarding a person who had attended at the pizza parlour and proceeded to steal a number of items, and then fled on foot.

Based on the CCTV footage, the responding Timmins Police officer was able to identify the male suspect.

The suspect was arrested later that same day at the scene of a break and enter at a Third Avenue retail store.

The suspect was located hiding in the building after the break-in had occurred.

As a result of the incident, Sylvain Levesque, 54, of Timmins, has been charged with: 

  • Theft Under $5000 contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada 
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada 
  • Break and Enter contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

Levesque remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for today at the Ontario Court of Justice in Timmins to answer to the charges laid against him.
