Snow removal dispute leads to 'assaultive' incident in Mountjoy, police say

A 44-year-old Timmins man has been accused of assaulting a police officer during the incident

The Timmins Police Service has charged a local man with a number of Criminal Code offences stemming from an assaultive altercation which occurred during the early evening hours of Tuesday, March 3 in a Mountjoy area neighborhood.

The Timmins Police Service responded to a complaint regarding a disturbance stemming from a man improperly removing snow from his property onto a neighboring property. The dispute escalated to a point where threats were uttered by the man. The man was arrested after a brief altercation with the police.

Based on the outcome of the investigation, Daniel Yoland Fleury, 44, of Timmins, has been charged with:

  • Assault contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Mischief – interfere with lawful use of property contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Utter threats contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Assault police officer contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

The accused has been released from police custody but must attend at Provincial Court in Timmins on April 14th to answer to the charges laid against him.
