Sixth suspect arrested in February kidnapping

As a result of an investigation into a kidnapping incident which occurred at a local motel in Timmins on Thursday, Feb. 13, the Timmins Police Service has charged six local men with offences linked to the event. 

One of the men involved, Phillipe Gastonguay, 40, of Timmins, has been located and was arrested yesterday on the strength of an arrest warrant held by the Timmins Police Service.

His involvement in this occurrence has resulted in the following charges being laid against him: 

  • two counts of aggravated assault contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada 
  • Kidnapping contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada 
  • Assault with a weapon contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada 
  • Assault contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada 
  • Sexual assault with a weapon contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada 
  • Use disguise with intent to commit an indictable offence contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada 
  • Utter threats contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada 
  • Fail to comply with probation order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada 

Gastonguay remains in police custody and is being returned to Timmins for the purposes of a bail hearing slated to occur upon his being returned from the Thunder Bay area.
