Single-vehicle crash leads to impaired charge for Iroquois Falls driver

IROQUOIS FALLS - On Oct. 15, 2020 at approximately 8:35 p.m., the Iroquois Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) came upon a single motor vehicle collision on Monteith Road in Iroquois Falls.

The investigation revealed the driver had been drinking. As a result, Sophie Barron, age 30, of Iroquois Falls has been arrested and charged with the following:

  • Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs contrary to section 320.14(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC) and,
  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) contrary to section 320.14(1)(b) of the CC.

The accused was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on Nov. 19, 2020 in Timmins.

Impaired driving remains the leading cause of criminal death in Canada. The OPP is reminding drivers that no amount of alcohol or drugs in your system is safe when driving.
