Schumacher man accused of threatening, spitting on police

The Timmins Police Service has charged a local man with a number of Criminal Code offences stemming from an incident that occurred at a Dwyer Street residence early this morning.

The Timmins Police Service responded to a noise complaint which involved a male suspect who became enraged once the police were on scene.

[It is alleged that] the subject became belligerent towards the police and began to utter threats and use menacing gestures towards the officers with a weapon in hand.

Responding Timmins Police Service officers were able to complete an arrest of the subject.

In the course of the arrest, the subject spat on one of the Timmins Police Service officers. As a result of the incident, Mathieu Beaudoin, 32 of Schumacher, has been charged with:
    •    Cause disturbance contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
    •    Mischief to property contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
    •    Assault peace officer contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
    •    Utter threats contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
    •    Assault peace officer contrary to Criminal Code of Canada
    •    Possess a weapon for a dangerous purpose contrary to Criminal Code of Canada

The accused remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for today at Provincial Court in Timmins to address the charges laid against him.
