Quebec man faces aggravated assault charges in two Temiskaming Shores incidents

CITY OF TEMISKAMING SHORES – On Aug. 6, 2020, shortly before 7:30 p.m., members of the Temiskaming Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and the Crime Unit, responded to a call involving two separate altercations that had taken place on Lakeshore Road, in the City of Temiskaming Shores.

One victim suffered serious non-life threatening injuries and was immediately transported to hospital by the Temiskaming Emergency Medical Services (EMS). The second victim, did not sustain any injuries.

The accused, a 36-year-old resident of Notre-Dame-du-Nord, Quebec is arrested and charged with:  

  • Aggravated assault, contrary to section 268 of the Criminal Code (CC),  
  • Failure to comply with release order - other than to attend court, contrary to section 145(5)(a) of the CC (four counts),  
  • Fail to comply with probation order, contrary to section 733.1(1) of the CC, 
  • Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose, contrary to section 88 of the CC,  
  • Uttering threats - cause death or bodily harm, contrary to section 264.1(1)(a) of the CC,  
  • Assault with a weapon - spousal, contrary to section 267(a) of the CC,  
  • Uttering threats - cause death of bodily harm - spousal, contrary to section 264.1(1)(a) of the CC.

The accused was held for a bail hearing and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice at a later date in the City of Temiskaming Shores.

The OPP will not be releasing the name of the accused in order to protect the identity of the victims.
