Police seize over $50K in drugs, cash

Police say they also seized a 9mm Glock; four people face multiple charges as a result

The Timmins Police Service has charged four persons with a number of Criminal Code and Drug Possession offences stemming from the execution of sequential Search Warrants, one at an Algonquin Blvd apartment and the other at a Laidlaw Street address yesterday.

A search warrant was executed allowing entry into an Algonquin Blvd residence by Timmins Police - Drug Enforcement Section officers working in coordination with TPS platoon officers, the Timmins Police – Emergency Response Team (ERT) officers.

As a result, the following exhibits were located and seized by the Timmins Police Service: 

  • 3.65 grams of suspect “purp” (Mixture of Fentanyl and Heroin) 
  • 11.6 grams of Crystal Methamphetamine 
  • 2.4 grams of Cocaine 
  • 1.5 Methamphetamine tablets 
  • $870 in Canadian Currency 
  • a loaded 9 mm Glock prohibited hand gun 
  • various mobile phone devices

The total street value of cash and illicit drugs seized totals $4,470.00.

A second search warrant was executed later yesterday which allowed entry into a Laidlaw Street residence by Timmins Police - Drug Enforcement Section officers working in coordination with TPS platoon officers, the Timmins Police – Emergency Response Team (ERT) officers.

As a result, the following exhibits were located and seized by the Timmins Police Service: 

  • 56.8 grams of suspect “purp” (Mixture of Fentanyl and Heroin) 
  • 1.5 grams of suspect “pink” (Mixture of Fentanyl and Heroin) 
  • 3.3 grams of Crystal Methamphetamine 
  • 77.1 grams of Cocaine 
  • $7030 in Canadian Currency

The total street value of cash and illicit drugs seized totals $50,050

As a result of the incident, Kayli Scott, 33, and Joseph Steed, 40, both of Timmins, along with Kayjuan Robertson, 20, and Tramar Edwards, 21, both of southern Ontario were arrested and have been charged respectively with: 

  • 2 counts each of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substances Act 
  • Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted weapon contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada 
  • Knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada 
  • 2 counts each of careless storage of a firearm / ammunition contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada 
  • Possession of a loaded prohibited firearm contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada 
  • Possession of property obtained by crime contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

Robertson is further charged with additional counts of: 

  • Possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substances Act 
  • Possession of property obtained by crime contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

All four charged persons were remanded in custody with a court appearance slated for April 19 at Provincial Court in Timmins to answer to the charges laid against them.
