Child rescued from river in Kirkland Lake

KIRKLAND LAKE - On May 2, 2021, at 7:41 p.m. frontline members of the Kirkland Lake Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a child that fell into the Blanche River in the Town of Kirkland Lake.

Nearby members of the public reacted quickly, located the unresponsive victim, retrieved them from the water and began CPR.

Police arrived on scene and continued the lifesaving measures and were able to resuscitate the victim. The victim was taken to hospital by EMS for assessment.

The OPP would like to thank the members of the public for their quick actions and bravery in the rescuing of the child.
