The Kirkland Lake Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) will be taking part in the Civic Day Long Weekend Traffic Safety Campaign which runs from July 29 - Aug. 1, 2022.

The focus of this year's campaign will be on Ontario's Move Over law which requires drivers to slow down and proceed with caution when passing an emergency vehicle parked on the side of a highway with its lights activated. If the highway has more than one lane, the law also requires the driver to move over and leave one lane between their vehicle and the parked emergency vehicle if it can be done safely.

The Kirkland Lake OPP reminds motorists to do their part in keeping our roadways safe so that everyone can enjoy this Civic Day long weekend and make it to their destination safely.
