Police looking for suspect after two home invasions in Cobalt

Police have issued an arrest warrant for a man after two home invasions in Cobalt.

The first incident happened Jan. 15 just before 11 p.m. when police responded to a call for an assault with a weapon at a First Street home, according to Temiskaming OPP. 

A disguised suspect forced their way into the home and confronted two people inside with a knife. The suspect demanded money from one of the victims, said police.

"The victim was assaulted and the individual fled with an undisclosed amount of cash, an ammunition box containing coins, stamps and jewelry," reads the news release.

There was a second home invasion on First Street Jan. 16 just before 9 p.m.

"Further investigation revealed that two disguised individuals broke into a residence and assaulted one of the occupants with a bat and stole a lock box containing sport cards, jewelry and an undisclosed amount of cash," according to OPP.

"The culprits fled the scene towards Larose Avenue."

Neither of the victims sustained life-threatening injuries.

An arrest warrant has been issued for Brian Edwards. 

He is described as a white male with brown hair, and brown eyes. He is 5 foot 9 inches tall, weighs about 205 pounds and has a number of tattoos, including a dragon and snake on his arm.

Police do not believe there is concern for public safety at this time.
