Police investigating two west-end crashes (3 photos)

The Timmins Police Service is continuing to investigate a collision that occurred at  approximately 10:40 this morning on Hwy 101 just east of the Jaguar Road intersection. 

The collision involved a pickup truck and a tractor trailer unit. 

The root cause of the collision is the central focus of the investigation but impairment has been eliminated as a contributing factor in this collision.  

The scene remains closed to allow for Timmins Police Service – Technical Traffic Collision Investigators complete their scan of the scene and investigative appraisals. 

Traffic continues to be rerouted by means of recommended use of Government Road between the Kamiskotia Road intersection and the east access point of Government Road. Non-commercial vehicle traffic can also use the Sandy Falls Road to enter or leave the city of Timmins in the west end. 

The driver of the pickup truck, a 55-year-old-old male resident of Timmins, had been transported to Timmins and District Hospital for treatment and is currently in stable condition. 

A second collision occurred approximately 2 hours later just west of the intersection of Shirley Street and Riverside Drive involving 2 passenger vehicles. 

EMS, Timmins Fire and Timmins Police attended this collision as well. One of the driver’s was transported to Timmins and District Hospital for medical treatment as a precautionary measure. 

Both vehicles sustained damage to such a degree that they had to be removed by tow truck. The scene has been cleared and roadways in this area are completely reopened. The investigation into the root cause of this collision continues.
