Police investigating two-vehicle crash in South Porcupine (updated)

Police are investigating a two-vehicle crash at the Bruce Y in South Porcupine.

The crash between a passenger vehicle and truck happened early this afternoon on Highway 101 at the Bruce Avenue intersection.

"The driver of the passenger vehicle was stopped at the intersection and is alleged to have proceeded from a stopped position, entering into the path of the pickup truck that had the right of way and was travelling eastbound on Highway 101," reads a Timmins Police news release. 

According to police, the female driving the car and a young passenger were brought to Timmins and District Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the pickup truck suffered a laceration to his hand.

Along with police, paramedics and Timmins firefighters were on scene.

Police said the road was closed for about 40 minutes, but traffic is returning to normal.

"The Timmins Police Service is grateful to those members of the public who stopped to render assistance and provide their independent accounts of how the collision occured," reads the news release.
