Police investigating after toddler attacked by aggressive dog

The Timmins Police Service, working in conjunction with the local animal control agency, is seeking public assistance in regards to a recent incident in Schumacher where a toddler was injured by an aggressive dog. 

On Tuesday, Jan. 18, at approximately 9:56 a.m., a woman was walking with her one-year-old child near the intersection of Fourth Avenue and Templeton Street in Schumacher. 

At this time, a dog suddenly approached them and bit both of these pedestrians. 

The woman suffered minor injuries as she fought off the dog however, the infant girl sustained significant injury due to the attack and required hospital care for her injuries. 

The dog in question is described as a large-sized breed with white short hair with a brown patch on its face. 

It appears that the dog’s owner was not present at the time of the incident. 

This matter remains under investigation by Animal Control (City of Timmins) with Timmins Police providing investigative assistance.
