Police identify victim of fatal fire in Englehart

People can expect to see increased police presence for the investigation

ENGLEHART – On June 26, 2020, members of the Temiskaming Shores Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a residential fire on Seventh Avenue in the Town of Englehart, where one person is deceased. 

The Chief Coroner for Ontario and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Services in Sudbury completed a post mortem examination and the victim has been identified as Olivine Bourassa, age 75, of Englehart. 

The investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing by members of the Temiskaming Shores OPP Crime Unit, OPP Forensic Identification Services (FIS) under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) in partnership with members from the Office of the Fire Marshall and Emergency Management (OFMEM), the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario, and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Services.   While the investigation is still in the preliminary stages, police believe there is no risk to the public at this time. Members of the community can expect to see an increased presence of OPP personnel and vehicles in the area as the investigation continues.
