Police accuse Timmins man of trespassing, carrying weapons

The Timmins Police Service has charged a local man with a number of Criminal Code offences stemming from an incident that occurred early this morning in a residential neighborhood in the north – central area of the city.

While completing patrols of the residential area, a Timmins Police Service officer discovered a male suspect engaged in suspicious activity in a back alley at approximately 3:00 a.m.

The suspect was recognized by the Timmins Police Service officer as he was observed entering onto private property and approaching the rear entrance of a private residence.

Upon being discovered, the suspect fled on foot and was located after a foot pursuit ending some four city blocks away. The suspect was located and arrested by the Timmins Police Service and found to be in possession of weapons and stolen property.

As a result of the incident, Evan Beaulne, 37, of Timmins, has been charged with:

  • Two counts of trespass by night contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Three counts of carry a concealed weapon contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Unauthorized possession of a weapon contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Possess a weapon contrary to a prohibition order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Possession of property obtained by crime contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Fail to comply with probation order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

The accused remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for this morning at Provincial Court in Timmins in order to answer to the charges laid against him.
