Person in custody after family dispute in Englehart: OPP (update: charges laid)

UPDATE #2:

SAVARD TOWNSHIP – On June 11, 2021, shortly before 5 p.m. members of the Temiskaming Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a family dispute occurrence on Hough Lake Road, northwest of Englehart, ON.

Once on scene, police learned a suspect was still in the area and as a result contained the area with several police units, including the Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU), Canine Unit and the Emergency Response Team (ERT). The accused was arrested at 2:04 a.m. on June 12, 2021, by TRU without incident. 

As a result of the investigation, the OPP have laid charges against one person.  Donald McLEAN, a 60 year-old person of Savard Township, Ontario, has been charged with the following:

  • Two counts - Uttering Threats to Cause Death or Bodily Harm, contrary to section 264.1(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC);
  • Uttering Threats to Damage Property, contrary to section 264.1(1)(b) CC.

The accused was detained in custody and appeared in the Ontario Court of Justice on June 12, 2021.

Public safety is the primary concern of the OPP and thank the public for its cooperation.

UPDATE #1:

At approximately 2:04 a.m. the accused person was arrested by police without incident.

Information on charges will be provided when available.

On June 11, 2021, shortly before 5 p.m. members of the Temiskaming Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a family dispute occurrence on Hough Lake Road, northwest of Englehart, Ont.

Once on scene, police learned a suspect was still in the area and as a result contained the area.

Several police units, including the Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU) and the Emergency Response Team (ERT) are at scene.

Police are asking the public to avoid the area of Hough Lake Road, until the situation is resolved peacefully.

Public safety is the primary concern of the OPP; at this time there is no risk to members of the public.

Further information will be provided as it becomes available.
