Otto Township resident faces sexual assault charges

KIRKLAND LAKE — On Jan. 24, 2022, members of the Kirkland Lake Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) began an investigation into a sexual assault incident that occurred in Otto Township, Ont.

As a result of the investigation, a 34-year-old person, from Otto Township, has been arrested and charged with:

  • Sexual assault on a person under 16 Years of Age, contrary to section 271 of the Criminal Code (CC)
  • Sexual interference, contrary to section 151 of the CC

The OPP will not release names in order to protect the identity of the victim.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice at a later date.
