OPP seize $220K worth of cannabis, opioids in Timmins, Iroquois Falls

IROQUOIS FALLS – On March 31, 2020 members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) North East Region Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) and the Iroquois Falls OPP Crime Unit executed a Cannabis Act warrant on a property in Timmins and a residence in Iroquois Falls.  

The OPP seized amounts of cannabis, Percocet and Xanax. The estimated street value is approximately $220,000.  

As a result of the investigation two people have been arrested and charged.  

Mason Emans, age 19, of Iroquois Falls, was charged with the following:    

  • Possession for the purpose of distributing, contrary to section 9(2) of the Cannabis Act (CA) - two counts  
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - opioid (other than heroin), contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drug and Substances Act (CDSA),  
  • Possession of a schedule IV substance for the purpose of trafficking, contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA and,  
  • Fail to comply with Probation order, contrary to section 733.1(1) of the Criminal Code (CC) - two counts  

Mackenzie Knowles, age 22, of Iroquois Falls, was charged with the following:    

  • Possession for the purpose of distributing, contrary to section 9(2) of the CA,  
  • Possession of a schedule IV substance for the purpose of Trafficking, contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA and,  
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking - Opioid (other than heroin), contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA.  

The accused were released on an undertaking and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on July 14, 2020 in Timmins.
