OPP investigate suspected opioid overdose death in Temiskaming Shores

TEMISKAMING SHORES - On March 4, 2021, shortly after 5:30 a.m. members of the Temiskaming Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), the OPP Crime Unit, the North East Region (NER) OPP Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), and the Timiskaming District Emergency Medical Service (EMS) responded to a call at a residence on Elliot Street in the City of Temiskaming Shores.

Further investigation revealed that a 37-year-old person was found unresponsive and a short time after was pronounced deceased from a suspected opioid overdose.

The Temiskaming Crime Unit will be continuing the investigation with the assistance of the Office of the Chief Coroner - Ontario Forensic Pathology Service (OCC-FPS).

A post-mortem examination is scheduled to take place in the City of Sudbury, at the Centre of Forensic Sciences (CFS) at a later date.
