Multiple traffic complaints result in impaired driving charges

MATHESON - On April 29, 2022 at approximately 3:51 p.m., members of the Matheson Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to multiple traffic complaints involving the same motor vehicle on Highway 101, German Township near Gibson Lake Road.

As a result of the investigation, William Naylor, 53 years old of Holtyre, was arrested and charged with the following:
    •    Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs contrary to section 320.14(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC)
    •    Fail to remain contrary to section 200(1)(a) of the Highway Traffic Act (HTA)
    •    Fail to surrender permit for motor vehicle contrary to section 7(5)(a) of the HTA

The accused was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Timmins on June 23, 2022.

The OPP relies on the public to report. Impaired driving is a crime that should be treated no differently.
