A missing kayaker has been safely located on the Porcupine River, according to police.

Earlier today, police issued an appeal asking for help to locate 31-year-old Mathieu Beaudoin of South Porcupine. He was last seen June 1 and had expressed an interest in kayaking in the area at the time.

According to Timmins Police, he was located about 10 kilometres down the Porcupine River with help from the OPP marine and aviation units.

Police say his kayak was rendered inoperable after he lost his paddle and he spent the night at a trapper's camp. He is back home now.

"The matter is deemed to be a closed incident with no further police action acquired," say police.
