The Timmins Police Service is issuing a traffic advisory regarding the proper use of Mattagami Boulevard South.

This roadway is a one-way street that accommodates southbound traffic off of Algonquin Boulevard only.

It is not intended to be used as an artery allowing for access to Algonquin Boulevard.

Signage in the area should serve as a reminder to ill-informed, distracted or inept drivers.

Enhanced patrols of this specific area will be undertaken to inspire full compliance.

The offence of driving the wrong way under the Highway Traffic Act triggers a monetary fine and the accumulation of three demerit points.

The attached photo depicts the specific area of concern.

On what seems like a daily basis, offences of this nature are occurring and placing the individual motorist at undue risk as well as any traffic that driver might encounter as they proceed in the wrong direction on this roadway.

While Timmins Police officers use their discretion effectively, the likelihood of receiving a roadside warning for any offence of this nature is quite low.
