The Timmins Police Service arrested a local resident yesterday on the strength of an arrest warrant for theft under $5000 and possession of property obtained by crime issued by the Provincial Court in Timmins.
While on patrol of the downtown core of Timmins, a Timmins Police Service officer recognized a male person as being a wanted person. The Timmins Police Service officer interviewed the person who proceeded to provide a false name to the police. The man was arrested after the validity of the arrest warrant was confirmed by Timmins Police dispatch personnel.
As a result, Brandon Roy, 26, of Timmins was taken into police custody and has been charged with:
- Personation with intent to avoid arrest contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
- Two counts of fail to comply with probation order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.
He remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for this morning at Provincial Court in Timmins where he will answer to the original charges as well as the new charges laid against him.
