Man operating excavator near Hearst charged with impaired driving

HEARST - On June 11, 2021, members of the James Bay Detachments of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a family dispute east from the Town of Mattice.

Police spoke with the family, further investigation revealed that a person driving an excavator was found to have consumed alcoholic beverages. As a result, the driver was arrested and the driver's licence suspended.

Micheal Stewart, 47 years old of Huron-Kinloss Township, was arrested and charged with:
    •    Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs, contrary to section 320.14(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC)
    •    Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus), contrary to section 320.14(1)(b) of the CC

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on July 28, 2021 in Hearst.
