Man facing charges after grocery store theft

The Timmins Police Service has charged a local person with theft-related offences stemming from an incident that occurred on Thursday, Aug. 11 at a Brunette Road grocery store in Timmins.

A Timmins Police Service officer responded to the call for service regarding a person who had attended at the store and proceeded to steal a number of items, and fled on foot.

Based on the investigation, the responding Timmins Police officer was able to identify, locate, and arrest the male suspect later that same day.

It was further determined that the Timmins Police hold an Arrest Warrant for this suspect.

As a result of the incident, Kerry Quachegan, 35, of Timmins, has been charged with: 

  • Theft Under $5000 contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada 
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada 
  • Fail to Comply with Undertaking contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

Quachegan remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for today at the Ontario Court of Justice in Timmins to answer to the charges laid against him.
