KIRKLAND LAKE - On April 11, 2021 at approximately 6:15 a.m., members of the Kirkland Lake Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a vehicle on fire on Government Road West in the Town of Kirkland Lake.
As a result of the investigation completed by frontline officers, with the assistance of the Forensic Identification Unit, one person has been arrested and charged.
Patrick Ryan, 29 years of age of Kirkland Lake, has been charged with the following:
• Arson - damage to property, contrary to section 434 of the Criminal Code (CC), and
• Theft under $5,000, contrary to section 334(b) of the CC
The accused was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice by video on April 22, 2021.
