Man arrested after threats call at Temiskaming-area business

 HARLEY TOWNSHIP, CHARLTON-DACK, ON - On Feb. 26, 2021, shortly before 7:30 a.m. members from the Temiskaming Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a threats call at a business in the Township of Harley.

Further investigation revealed that a disagreement between two employees took place on Feb. 25, 2021. On Feb. 26, the situation escalated to threats being made against one of the individuals. The person of interest then fled the scene in a vehicle in an unknown direction.

Shortly after 10:30 a.m., officers observed and stopped the vehicle travelling eastbound on Highway 560 in the Township of Charlton-Dack.

As a result, Mark Allen, a 52-year-old resident from James Township has been arrested and charged with:

  • Uttering threats - Cause death or bodily harm, contrary to 264.1(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC),
  • Fail to comply with probation order, contrary to section 733.1(1) of the CC, and
  • Failure to comply with release order - other than to attend court, contrary to section 145(5)(a) of the CC.

The accused has been held in custody pending a bail hearing, and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice at a later date, in the City of Temiskaming Shores.
