Man accused of stealing chocolate bars from discount store

The Timmins man is accused of stealing $25 worth of items and fleeing on foot

The Timmins Police Service has charged a local person with theft related offences stemming from an incident that occurred during the afternoon hours of Sunday, May 24 at an Algonquin Blvd discount store in Timmins.

The Timmins Police responded to an incident where a man known to police attended at the discount store and left the premises without making payment for a number of chocolate bars.

The suspect fled on foot with approximately $25.00 worth of stolen items.

The responding Timmins Police officers were able to identify the suspect and located him a short distance from the original scene.

As a result of the investigation by the Timmins Police Service, Randy Friday, 35, of Timmins, has been charged with:

  • Theft under $5000 contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Possession of property obtained by crime contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

The accused remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for this morning at Provincial Court in Timmins to answer to the charges laid against him.
