Local man facing break and enter, theft charges

The suspect is facing numerous charges in connection to two different incidents

The Timmins Police Service has charged a local person with Break and Enter related offences stemming from incidents where a local business was broken into.

The break-in incident occurred during the early morning hours of Sunday, Oct. 25 at a local convenience store in Timmins.

The Timmins Police Service responded to a call for service where the owner of the business had discovered that a break-in had occurred where the suspect has forcibly gained entry by forcing the main door open, gaining physical entry, and fleeing with an empty cash register.

The suspect was positively identified as Brandon Roy, 26 of Timmins, by means of investigative measures undertaken by the Timmins Police Service

In relation to this event, the suspect has been charged with:

  • Break and enter with intent contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Possession of property obtained by crime contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Possession of break-in instruments contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Fail to comply with probation order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

The suspect was arrested yesterday for having committed a theft over the noon hour at a local grocery store where he briefly made off with approximately $177 worth of items.

He was located and taken into custody a short distance from the grocery store.

He provided a false name to the police upon being arrested.

As a result of this incident, Roy has been charged with additional counts of:

  • Theft under $5,000 contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Possession of property obtained by crime contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Personation with intent contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Fail to comply with probation order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

Roy remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for today at Provincial Court to answer to the charges laid against him.
